Can I sue my neocon neighbor for slander against President Obama?

He keeps saying that President Obama said that there are 57 states in the United States, the President Obama called country-folk people who "cling to their guns and religion" and all this other blatant BS! Can I sue for slander on behalf of President Obama and others like me who have to constantly put up with neocons trying to make us look stoopid?
