Do companys charge more in places that aren't regulated to make up profit lost in places that are regulated?
Companies that are Regulated are either regulated by the state and sometimes on the federal level. They are regulated on what they can and can't charge for calls. Unregulated companies can set what the want there rates to be. Something known as least cost routing for a flat rate. This has to do with VOIP. Phone companies do not charge more to unregulated companies. As a phone/TV/Internet provider In NY Our phone company is regulated and the TV and internet is not. Being regulated has made us move everything to the unregulated side. Which helps us lower prices to our customers.
