Canon powershot SX1 IS - upside down viewfinder?

When I look through the viewfinder of my Canon Powershot SX1 IS everything is upside down and back to front, the LCD is fine and working as it should, I thought I might have changed settings or something but I cant find anything that changes it back. In desperation I have even taken out the lithium battery and hoped that would do the trick, well after having to reprogram the date and time it did not sort the problem out, new battery's have not sorted it out either. I hope it has not developed a fault...Any help appreciated, thanks in advance
