Signed a lease. Moving out. Won't pay for rest of term. Is our co-signer responsible? Will it affect me?

I've signer a year lease with another girl. Things have not worked out and I have moved out. We have a co signer for the term of the lease. If I don't pay rent, will the co-signer be asked to pay? How will this affect me , if it does at all
